Antique Victorian Amethyst and Pearl Mourning Ring

An antique amethyst mourning ring from the Victorian era, with an ornate face and shoulders; featuring seed pearls, a central amethyst, enamel work on the shoulders and a closed back setting. The black enamel work and pearls are typical of mourning jewellery, with each pearl said to represent a tear, shed for the lost loved one. The amethyst has a little wear, as could be expected with a ring of this age.
