Large Vintage 9ct Gold Back and Front Heart Locket

A pretty early 20th century heart locket, in good working order, and a foliate etched design on it's front. It is modelled in 9ct 'back and front' gold and stamped as such on the back. This locket would be a  beautiful way to hold a keep sake close to your heart.

A "back and front" 9ct gold locket features gold layers on both sides with a non-gold metal core, enhancing durability. The gold-plated inner parts provide structural support, making it more resistant to bending, scratches, and dents than solid gold lockets. Back and front' gold plating became popular in the Edwardian period, and allowed lockets to be more accessible to the general public who may not be able to afford solid gold, but still give them the luxury of a gold exterior.
